Applicant Requirements
At Steamworks we endeavor to provide AAA service. As a result, we have developed our own AAA approach to hiring.
In addition to any and all legal/licensing requirements, we concentrate on the following three criteria:
Attitude - Ability - Appearance
Attitude
In our industry, a positive attitude is vital. Prospective applicants must be:
Energetic
Steamworks is a high-volume, high-energy establishment which caters to a wide variety of clientele with a wide variety of needs.
Pro-active
Applicants must be able to take the initiative in providing high-quality, courteous, and efficient service, in a dynamic environment, with a minimum need for supervision.
Flexible
Open for lunch and dinner, day and night shifts must be filled. Whether seeking full-time or part-time employment, prospective applicants with flexible schedule needs will be given preference.
Friendly
Steamworks has a solid core of "regulars". Prospective applicants must exhibit the sort of gregarious and accommodating personality needed to maintain this precious resource.
Ability
Certain job skills are invaluable to our operation. Among those we prize most highly are:
Agility
The Service Industry is an active one and our high-volume creates an especially active atmosphere. Applicants must exhibit the capacity for and proficiency in the physical rigors of our industry.
Education
A large proportion of our business stems from our proximity to various tourist attractions in the downtown core. These international guests occasionally experience language barriers. As such, special note may be taken of applicants with linguistic skills.
Also, we are especially interested in individuals possessing complementary or supplemental outside interests that can be successfully integrated into our operation.
Experience
Required experience varies depending on which position the applicant is seeking. Whereas, Bar/Service/Kitchen applicants are required to have 2-5 years experience in mid to high-volume operations, Support Staff applicants without any restaurant experience may still be considered. Knowledge of the Squirrel point-of-sale system is another sought after asset.
Appearance
In an effort to maintain our high professional standards, applicants should exhibit a pride in their:
Personal presentation
Closely related to attitude, a friendly, charismatic and welcoming demeanor is an essential quality which each applicant must possess.
As a special note, while we respect individuality, applicants should be aware of our belief that the workplace is not the forum to make a fashion statement, especially with body piercing and tattoos.
Professional appearance
Our staff are our ambassadors. They reflect our business philosophies and standards. As such, prospective applicants are required to display a clean, tidy, and well-kempt appearance.
If there are any openings available, they will be posted below by location.
